Case Study: Garrick Street, Covent Garden Office Electrical Upgrade

Modernisation
As providers of industry-leading electrical installation and maintenance services within the London, Sussex, and Surrey areas, Cooper Weston was tasked with providing full electrical support, including the complete overhaul and modernisation of the electrical system of 14 Garrick St, Covent Garden—a former Grade II listed church—during its conversion to office spaces on behalf of Stoica.
Nestled in the centre of Covent Garden, this stunning period building has undergone extensive renovation in recent months and Cooper Weston were privileged enough to be asked to provide full electrical support for the whole project having worked with Stoica Offices, head contractors, on a number of jobs in the past.

Project overview
Cooper Weston’s involvement in the conversion of this heritage building is to remove the outdated electrical system, replacing it with an up to date, energy efficient and safety compliant system. We provided full electrical support throughout the entirety of the project with focus on ensuring all works were completed in accordance with local authority regulations.

The Project Details
Cooper Weston’s primary focus on this project was to remove the outdated electrical system that no longer met the demands of modern functionality and safety standards.
This process involved assessing the existing system, identifying obsolete components, and dismantling the outdated elements followed by installing a more advanced electrical network.
The end product was an upgraded system that was not only more function, but also provided energy savings meaning reduced annual bills. Contributing to a greener and more sustainable heritage space.
This project was completed a number of years ago during Cooper Weston’s move into the commercial market. This felt like a natural progression, particularly as the company and reputation grew.
Challenges and solutions
Whilst exciting, the project hasn’t been without its challenges, particularly given the building’s Grade-II listed status. Previously a stunning church, converting the property into workable office space was, at times, taxing. But thanks to Cooper Weston’s team of highly qualified and diligent professionals, the job was completed on time and within budget.
“We have now worked with Cooper Weston on a number of office fit out and refurbishment projects and are reassured to have them as one of our specialist suppliers” said Ben Ingamells, Head Contractor at Stoica Offices. “Cooper Weston has worked above and beyond to assist in delivering the project on time and within budget and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results.”

Conclusion
Cooper Weston’s involvement in the electrical modernisation at 14 Garrick St, Covent Garden exemplifies the commitment to preserving heritage while meeting contemporary standards.
